Master of Business Administration

Course Overview

An MBA is both a post experience and postgraduate qualification. The target audience for the MBA is primarily managers who wish to build on their existing experience and have an aspiration to reach a senior management position. The programme is structured to provide a strategic perspective on business and management, but it is also designed to help students establish some autonomy over the content of their degree. The provision of a substantial dissertation encourages students to pursue their own interests for career and business development. The MBA is offered as a specialist programme with the awards MBA (Energy Management), MBA (Health Management), MBA (Hospitality Management), MBA (Management Consultancy), and MBA.  Participants must study all of the common compulsory modules plus two options.  Those who wish to follow a specialist route must choose their two options as shown below in the specialist pathways.  They must also base their dissertation on a topic relevant to the chosen specialisation.  The final award will clearly show the pathway studied.  Those who do not wish to follow a specialisation may choose any two options, either from the pathways or from the free standing modules, subject to availability and timetabling constraints.  They may choose any business topic for the dissertation.  In this case the final award will simply be MBA, with no reference to a pathway.
